Heat and Humidex Policy
Chatham Soccer Club uses the Environment Canada Predicted Humidex Reading when deciding if soccer will be cancelled due to high temperatures.
U4 to U12
On the day of the program, recreational or competitive team practice or
recreational game, if the temperature is between30-35°Cand the humidex is below
40°C, then there is an enforced 2 min. water break after each period and the time of
the periods are reduced from 10 min. to 8 min. However if the temperature is
greater than 35°C. and the humidex is predicted to be equal to or greater than 40°C,
three hours prior your event, it will be cancelled. There will be no re-scheduling of
programs, practices or games.
U13 to U17
On the day of your program, recreational or competitive team practice or
recreational game, if the temperature is between 30-35°Cand the humidex is below
40°C, then there is an enforced 2 min. water breaks during each half. However, if
the humidex is predicted to be equal to or greater than45°C three hours prior your
event, the game will be cancelled. There will be no re-scheduling of any practices.
Time permitting, games will be rescheduled.
referees should get together before the game begins and agree to play 4 shortened
quarters
Adult Leagues:
If the temperature is between 30-38°C and the humidex is below
40°C, coaches and referees should get together before the game begins and agree
to play 4 shortened quarters instead of 2halves.This will allow for extra water
breaks. If the temperature is above 38°C and the humidex is predicted to be greater
than 45 three hours before the game, the game will be cancelled.
Games can be rescheduled.
CSC reserves the right to modify this policy for its Festivals and Tournaments.
Notification of Program Cancellation due to High Humidex will be posted on the club website three hours prior to the event. When in doubt, check the Environment Canada website. At any time, if you have any concerns regarding the weather conditions, please do what you feel is best for your child.
